Overview
Meet the Technologist.
Mitek tasked us with reworking their web copy to appeal to “The Technologist,” a fellow digital security expert and one of Mitek’s most important audiences. Salesy or marketing-speak doesn’t sway this person. He responds to messages that are clear, honest, informative, and technically precise. So our task was to craft copy with sector-specific argot that would communicate to him that Mitek was incorporating the latest advances in the field into their products. We weren’t creating a digital funnel where users filled out a form and made a purchase. Instead, we were demonstrating Mitek’s leadership in innovating three complex services crucial to cybersecurity:

Simplifying their clients’ customer experience.
Website Refresh.
We focused on their homepage and solutions page, which outlined Mitek’s most important products: Identity verification platform and Biometric authentication. The designers pursued a visual direction that was stunning. Take in the Blade Runner allure of the homepage hero below. We used Mitek’s brand colors to replicate the light that shines on someone’s face when a machine authenticates her features.
Homepage.
As users keep scrolling down the homepage, they encounter modules that position Mitek as an identity command center. Mitek pioneers KYC (know-your-customer) processes — verification technology that their clients can deploy without code. Mitek also helps create user journeys that minimize customers’ stress, which allows Mitek to respond to their questions immediately.
Tagline & Logo.
We also embedded a video about the Mitek identity verification platform and added a module that invited the user to request a demo of how Mitek’s platform works. The page ended on a tagline that I wrote. Take a look at that beaut, hanging out at the top of the module — along with the new logo to the right.
Identity verification platform.
Mitek’s flagship product is their identity verification platform. Also termed “MiVIP,” this functionality helps customers conduct the type of digital security checks that have become an industry standard. (Validating credit cards, authenticating documents, running biometric checks on users’ faces.) Below the fold, the messaging delved into the three features of MiVIP: Orchestration, user journeys, and configuration. Check them out below.
Biometric authentication.
Mitek considers username-password combinations to be archaic safeguards against fraud. So “MiPass” is Mitek’s signature facial recognition technology, letting their clients input their facial features and access a passwordless security network that cannot be replicated. We distilled the benefits of face-capture and voice enrollment technology into a simple layout with a video embed. We also summarized biometric authentication in a concise subhead: Enroll. Authorize. Match.
Tomorrow’s identity solutions.
We elaborated on the Enroll-Authorize-Match concept within the body copy, condensing a library of context that Mitek gave us into five lines. Finally, we ushered The Technologist through a biometric flowchart of users unlocking their digital identities with selfies and pass-phrases. All this gives the Technologist access to Mitek’s dashboard — and the ability to set up customer journeys in under 15 minutes.

I enjoyed working on this account in large part because I believe in Mitek. At a time when cybercrime is escalating with astonishing inventiveness, Mitek fuses the physical and digital worlds to help people fortify their identities and secure their most vital information. They loved the futuristic confidence of the work we showed them, and felt that we had delivered messaging that would appeal to customers who demand best-in-class security with unparalleled insight.
